The rising star has considerable social media audience

The young golfer will have numerous prominent backers as she begins her LPGA debut on Thursday.

This teenage golfer, who happens to be the granddaughter of a former US president, was granted a special exemption to participate at Florida's Annika event in Florida.

The former president, a passionate golfer, possesses several international courses and regularly matches against his granddaughter.

"He's pretty good. I shouldn't elaborate but we have competitive games," she mentioned.

The golfer shared that her grandfather, who won't be present, counseled her: "Simply avoid anxiety."

"My grandpa basically suggested to go out there and relax," she explained.

"From my perspective, he's just an ordinary family member. He won't be there this weekend. He's occupied with world affairs, making him somewhat preoccupied."

Being non-professional, Kai has competed in just three tournaments in 2024 and maintains position 461 in AJGA listings.

Yet she's able to receive tips from golf legend, in a relationship with her mother.

"He stands as the greatest golfer worldwide," the young golfer said.

"Furthermore, he's an even better human being. He advised me to play, have fun, adapting to the flow."

Kai will face several the biggest names in the sport at the Annika, featuring world number two the champion, England's Charley Hull, professional Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.

The LPGA mentioned that involving Kai brings golf to different demographics, especially with youth audiences.

The social media influencer boasts substantial online presence and has started a personal clothing and lifestyle label.

She begins at 17:30 GMT.
