The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting Against defending champion Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the World Series in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their first championship series after the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Down three runs to one, the star outfielder hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, propelling the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series victory in the series. Next up are the defending champions, holders of the defending champions, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.
"I'm just so happy for our team, Toronto, Canada," said Springer, a star of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."
George Springer has now slugged 23 post-season home runs, placing him third in history trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"I can't think of another person in the world that I'd choose in that situation except for George Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.
The Mariners, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team never to appear in a championship series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it hurts" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but applauded their efforts throughout the year.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we ended up on the wrong side of this one," he remarked.
Toronto's team won the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
