Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
