Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest action-packed game that players experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for delighting in violence and madness with equal enthusiasm, all while weaving engaging, politically driven tales. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two creators whose creations have exemplified all of those things.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by introducing a fresh setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the showrunner.

“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and assistance.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can change from season to season, while always delving into the core of humanity through this multifaceted and unpredictable perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to partner with Rob and introduce our common irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the audience.”

A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
